VISITING HQ | Guru Pet Food

We were lucky enough to be invited to visit the Guru HQ this week and what a treat it was! Upon arrival Hunter and Maple could instantly smell the delicious food, jumping straight out the car and headed to the HQ door.

I said my hellos to everyone as we entered, Hunter and Maple were dragging me upstairs straight away to smell out the Guru office.

We had a little chat with Lisa and Sam, but Hunter did most of the talking himself. With constant barks for all the love he was getting and of course maple was getting Sam cuddles. They were both ready to see where the food was hiding #dogheaven

Going downstairs to where all the Gurulicious delights are, they both weaved in and out sniffing out all the food and treats. They both sat nice for Lisa and Sam to take their pictures with their iconic Guru pallets and got a big handful of their yummy venison sausages which are both their favourite… or is it the trip bones. It’s a tough decision ha.

Maple and Hunter also had a little interview with Lisa – the co owner of Guru pet food;

What made you first setup Guru pet food?
Our beloved pets Gino and Duke inspired us to launch Guru. Before Guru, we were ‘home-feeders’ and prepared their meals using nutritious and tasty ingredients. We quickly saw the benefits in their behaviour and overall health. But we also found that preparing meals was time consuming and wasn’t always practical.

Our goal was to find a dog food that was as practical and as close as possible to our home cooked food. We were adamant from the outset that it had to be packed full of healthy ingredients and taste great too. After searching for many months, we were unsure if we would ever find a food we were completely happy with; luckily, we had a break through and discovered a unique method for producing pet food known as ‘Cold Pressing’. The rest as they say, is history.

Why cold pressed?
Being home feeders, it was important to find a food that ticked every box. Cold pressing is a method of producing complete dog food at very low temperatures and by using this unique method, the ingredients retain much more of their flavour, aroma, vitamins and nutritional value.  Guru is the closest food to a natural balanced diet you can provide for your dog and gives them all the great nutrients they need to stay healthy and happy.

How long have you been up and running?
We launched just over 3 years ago, where does time go? It feels like we’ve achieved so much, in such a short time!

Our hashtag from when we first launched and which we still use today, is for us all to #SpreadTheLove. Our incredibly loyal ‘Geekster’ squad feel the same way and are part of our Guru Family.  Together, we’re on a mission to spread the Guru word so that all pets can benefit from a cold pressed diet.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank each one of YOU who has supported us over the last three years.

Do you have any pets of your own?
As previously mentioned, Gino and Duke are our two boxer dogs who inspired us to launch Guru. You may or may not know much about the breed, but we can assure you, they demand attention!

Gino, is very particular about the food he eats, so he is the Chief taste tester. He approves all of our cold pressed recipes along with the treats, so if it’s a ‘Paws Up’ from Gino, then we know our Geeksters are gonna love them too!

Duke is a little more laid back and he’s literally happy soaking up all the attention. If there’s a cuddle on offer, then Duke is first in line.

What’s it like working at HQ?
Busy… crazy busy, but we’re not complaining. Put it this way, we go through a lot of tea bags and plenty of crumpets to keep us all going!

What’s your favourite thing about running Guru?
We’re proud to be a family owned business. Our team of Geeks each play an important role to ensure every customer has a GURUvy experience. At the same time, it’s important for us to have fun too!

If we had to choose one favourite thing, it’s interacting with our Geeksters on social media. We especially enjoy sharing behind the scenes footage on Instagram via our @originalgeeksters page and as you can see from our posts, the energy and positivity around the office is real!

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who’s supported us on our continuous journey and we wish everyone a Wooftastic Christmas and all the very best for 2019 xx
